When multiple injections of tritiated thymidine are given to mice bearing Ehrlich ascites tumor, and l00% of thetumor cells become labeled, the growth of Ehrlich ascites tumor is markedly decreased when compared with control animals, the percentage decrease being proportional to the amount of tritiated thymidine given. However, even at the highest dose level the percentage decrease does not exceed 43%. These findings confirm the possibility of radiation damage from tritiated thymidine and suggest its use in the investigation of the direct effects of radiation on cells. (auth)
