EFFECTS OF RADIATIONS ON PURIFIED ENZYMES AND PROTECTIVE ACTIVITY OF SOME SULPHANILAMIDE DISULPHIDES (in Italian)

The previous research on the inactivation of pure compounds of lactic dehydrogenase of yeast by means of ultraviolet and roentgen radiations, has been extended to other purified enzymes, extracted from animal tissues: liver alcohol dehydrogenase, heart lactic dehydrogenase and pancreas ribonuclease. It was possible to confirm that the inhibitory reaction caused by radiation shows a monomolecular trend, using both ultraviolet and roentgen radiation, and that it depends on the free radicals produced in the irradiated solution. The inhibitory effect of ultraviolet radiation is remarkably reduced by the presence of compounds of the type bis-(2,2'-amino-4,4' -sulfanilamide)-disulphide at concentrations ranging between 10/sup -4/ to 10/sup -5/M. In these conditions it is possible to observe a decrease of the quantic yield of the inactivation reaction. The inhibitory effect of roentgen rays is reduced by the disulphide. (auth)
