IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO NUCLEAR REACTORS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4624588
A device for clearing obstacles from the gas-sampling pipes of a graphite-moderated gas-cooled reactor is patented. The gas-sampling pipes extend from the fuel channels to gas-sampling apparatus outside the reactor. The device consists of a head portion, which may be inserted temporarily in the reactor to a location where a duct in the head portion communicates with the appropriate gassampling pipe. The duct may be connected to a source of high or low pressure, so that obstacles mav be removed from the pipes by applying differential pressure. The device may be part of a charge chute, or a separate device, which can be lowered into the reactor by a grab head and temporarily locked into position. (M.P.G.)
