A mounting device for reactor fuel element assemblies is patented. The device is particularly applicable to marine pressurized water reactors. Any kind of fuel assembly, including bars, plates, or tubes may be used in the mount, which holds the assembly rigidly in the reactor core and permits free downward expansion. The mount consists of a head in the upper grid of the reactor and a cylindrical guide tube locked into the machined bore of the head. The fuel element assembly is secured by means of flanges to the lower part of the head and to a sliding ferrule member in the lower grid of the reactor. (M.P.G.)
