The variation of inorganic pyrophosphatase activity occurring in mouse brain and liver tissues after whole-body x irradiation (500 r) lasting 58 min. was studied. No change of liver activity was noted after 2 hrs, but 24 and 48 hrs after irradiation the enzyme activity was reduced by 25 and 50%, respectively. No effect was observed in the brain tissues for the first 24 hrs, but after 48 hrs the enzyme activity was significantly inhibited. (J.S.R.)
