From 1st international conference on stable isotopes in chemistry, biology, and medicine; Argonne, Illinois, USA (9 May 1973). In proceedings of the first international conference on stable isotopes in chemistry, biology, and medicine. Isotope dilution analysis using field ionization mass spectrometry was used for the determination of nitric oxide in blood. Blood exposed to a known amount of /sup 15/NO exchanges any bound /sup 14/NO with excess /sup 15/NO, resulting in an isotopic dilution of the latter. The precision of the method stands at +10%, which seems acceptable for epidemiological or physiological investigations. (JGB)
