Polyethylene spark chambers for measuring the polarization of protons

Translated from Prib. Tekh. Eksp.; l6: No. 3, 59-61(1973). An installation is described for measuring the polarization of protons in the energy range from 100 to 250 MeV. The installation consists of four spark chambers and a scintillation telescope. Each spark chamber has two aluminum electrodes and glass side walls. Polyethylene plates-- analyzers-- are placed between electrodes in the form of shelves. The chambers are supplied from two generators that produce short pulses and are designed according to the Arkad'ev-Marc circuit. The voltage pulse appearing across the chambers has an amplitude of 250 kV and a leadingedge duration of 10 nsec. (auth)
