Transients and limiting current in a microtron

Journal Article · · Sov. Phys.-Tech. Phys. (Engl. Transl.), v. 17, no. 10, pp. 1759-1764

The transient regimes of the beam-cavity system in a microtron are investigated. It is shown that allowance for the finite time of formtion of the microtron beam (i.e., the tune of acceleration from the first to the last orbit) yields a current limit of 100 to 200 mA at a energy of 30 MeV. This effect is particularly singificant in sectional continuous microtrons with a large number of orbits. (auth)
