The radiation dose in a metastasis, depending on its size, is ascertained on the phantom by the curves of film dosimetry. These investigations refer to the beta emitters /sup 131/I and /sup 32/P as well as to the gamma emitter /sup 125/I. It was found that a metastasis of 3.5 mm in diameter in the / sup 32/P-milieu in its center gets 50% of the ambient dose. In an /sup 125/I- milieu a metastasis with a diameter of even 17 mm receives the same irradiation. This means a significant superiority of the gamma emitters in comparison to the beta emitters. Similar investigations were performed with regard to the ambient dose of a radioactive lymph node. Depending on the activity investigated, on the margin of the lymph nodes no more than 55 to 70% of the central dose is measured. With beta emitters, at a distance of 1 to 2 mm from the margin of the lymph node, with gamma emitters at 10 mm, less than 10% of the central dose is measured. Therefore, even with endolymphatic therapy with gamma emitters, a marked radiation exposure of the healthy environment is not to be expected. /sup 99m/Tc and /sup 85/Sr were included in these investigations.
