Lightning arrestor connector. Group 2. Evaluation and testing development report
Twenty lightning arrestor connectors (MC2796 & 2797) were subjected to detailed electrical and environmental tests. Both the rutile sleeve and the anodized web concepts passed thermal and mechanical environments representative of those proposed for the W'-66, 70, and 7l. The connectors limited voltages below the requested 2500 volts during lightning simulated current pulses of 20 and 200 kiloamperes. D. C. voltage breakdowns exceeded 700 volts and insulation resistances were greater than l000 megohms. The rutile sleeve design is recommended for production because that design provides less data scatter, lower impulse ratio and less moisture sensitivity than the anodized web concept. (auth)
