Development of a lightning arrestor connector
Technical Report

OSTI ID:4301936
A lightning arrestor connector was developed and evaluated. The design is based on an LJT connector with an air breakdown providing the arresting feature. The air breakdown is stimulated by rutile, a high dielectric constant insulator to provide adequately rapid breakdown of the alr gap. The connector passed stringent environmental tests and performed satisfactorily at simulated lightning currents over 200,000 amperes. (auth)
