Expanded joints for calandria tubes and coolant channel assemblies in CANDU type of power reactor
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4383520
The construction of CANDU type power reactors involves production of a large number of expanded joints, such as, joint between calandria tube sheet and tube, coolant tube joint, etc. The specific requirements for each joint, materials, equipmnent, preparations, procedure and specific problems are discussed. The criteria explained are consistency in quality and dimensional control, simplicity and economy in production, ability to counter stresses resulting from service conditions, etc. Based on the experience at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Project, which consists of CANDU type power reactors, an assessment of the consistency demanded in construction of reactor pressure vessels is presented.
