Salient features of civil construction for reactor buildings at RAPP site. Part I. Civil construction

The procedures employed in handling, installation and alignment of main reactor components such as calandrias, end shields, end shield rings, dump tank, expansion joint, shield tank etc., of Unit-1 of Rajasthan Atomic Power Project are described. The components, varying from 30 tons to 120 tons, involve considerable fabrication work at the reactor site shops prior to their lowering into the reactor building. Techniques sre highlighted with reference to bringing the components to the site, rolling inside the reactor re placed on the carany tilting due to heavy nents, special optical experience of Rajasthan-1 Reactor, it is recommended that prior to the shipment of components, a thorough inspection should be made at the manufacturer's shop to avoid the time loss on the rework of the components at the reactor site.
