From 3rd Health Physics Society midyear topical symposium; Los Angeles, California, USA (29 Jan 1969). See CONF-690103P1. Legal aspects of the transfer, possession, and use of radioactive material at Cornell University are discussed. The importance of maintaining records of wipe surveys is emphasized. Factors to be considered in determining the frequency of wipe surveys were the radionuclide used, activity, area, and procedure. As a guide used to determine hazard, a standard radiotoxicity table was used. A table showing classes of radioisotopes according to toxicity is presented. A list of rules for radiation personnel with regard to wipe surveys is presented. (HLW)
