Evaluation of radiation exposure
- ed.
From 3rd Health Physics Society midyear topical symposium; Los Angeles, California, USA (29 Jan 1969). See CONF-690103P1. Characteristics of the ethical and the practical health physicist are described. Recommendations of the ICRP and ICRU are discussed and difficulties and similarities of external vs. internal exposure are described. External radiation exposure is discussed with regard to direct measurement of the dose equivalent, use of LET spectrum to obtain the dose equivalent neutron exposure, and rad vs. roentgen. Internal radiation is discussed with regard to metabolic pathways, breathing zone air sampling, inhalation exposure from surface contamination, solubility of inhaled particles, excretion models, and bioas say vs. whole-body counting.
