GAIN-SCANNED SINGLE CHANNEL KICKSORTER USING PRECISION CASCADE ATTENUATORS
Journal Article
·
· Nuclear Instr.
The paper begins by discussing the characteristics and advantages of a single channel kicksorter in which the voltage channel is fixed, and the pulse spectrum is scanned by changing the gain of the preceding amplifier. Attenuators which can be operated in cascade and have a precision approximately 0.2% have been developed for use in such an instrument. Examples of spectra obtained with an automatically scanned digital recording kicksorter of this kind are presented. They involve pulse height and counting rate ranges of up to 30:1 and up to 3000:1, respectively. (auth)
