An investigation was made of factors affecting the success of rat or mouse skin grafts in irradiated mice treated with homologous and heterologous bone marrow. It was concluded that in the longer lived radiation chimaera the host has an actively acquired tolerance to the graft and the graft is immunologically paralyzed as regards the host. (C.H.)
