CQ Inc., its team members, Howard University and Fossil Fuel Sciences, and industry advisors from coal-burning utilities and coal producers, are developing HAPs-Rx, a software tool for accurately predicting the reduction of trace elements from coal using coal cleaning. This effort will effectively tie the mode of occurrence of trace elements to their reduction during coal cleaning. Efforts in this quarter have focused on QA/QC, the evaluation of washability data for the Northern Appalachian coal a comparison of gravimetric- and surface-based cleaning technologies for this coal, the mode of occurrence of the trace elements, and the chemical/biological cleaning evaluation.
