HYPOPHYSECTOMY, IRRADIATION, AND BIOSYNTHESIS OF HEPATIC LIPIDS (in Italian)

The incorporation of acetate-1-C/sup 14/ and mevalonate-2C/sup 14/ into cholesterol and the biosynthesis of fatty acids from acetate-1-C/sup 14/ are greatly reduced in hypophysectomized rats. X irradiation has a clear stimulating effect on the incorporation of acetate-1-C/sup 14/ and hypophysectomized rats. It is established that this effect of x irradiation is independent from hypophyseal control. (auth)
