The sample is decomposed by warming in the presence of Pt and evaporated to low bulk. The rare earths are separated by precipitation as oxalates with Ca as a carrier followed by precipitation with a standard amount of ferric hydroxide. After ignition the oxides are examined spectrographically. (auth)
