THE DETERMINATION OF RARE EARTHS IN URANIUM METAL

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4233654
A method was developed for the chemical concertration of rare earths from uranium prior to their spectrographic estimation. The bulk of the uranium is removed by ether extraction of the urandyl nitrate hexahydrate. Concertration of the rare earths from the residue is carried on by a double oxalate precipitation on a calcium carrier followed by removal of the calcium and any other remaining impurities by a double hydroxide precipitation on spectrographically pure iron.
