EFFECT OF X-IRRADIATION ON SPLEEN NUCLEOTIDE LEVELS

Journal Article · · Radiation Research
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2307/3570741· OSTI ID:4215786
Results arp reported from studies on the effects of lethal and sublethal doses of radiation on the spleen adenosine nucleotide levels of rats, mice, and guinea pigs. The adenosine nucleotides were separated from tissue samples by ion- exchange chromatography using Dowex-1 resin. The predominant change produced by whole-body exposure to 400 to 800 r of x radiation was on the adenosine triphosphate levels. Less significant changes were noted in the total adenosine nucleotide, adenylic acid, and adenosine diphosphate levels of the spleen. Data are presented graphically on nucleotide levels measured for 14 days after exposure. (C.H.)
