Relation between the chemical structure of solvent molecules and their extractability for hafnium and zirconium (in Japanese)

The distribution ratios of hafnium and zirconium thiocyanates between organic solvents and hydrochloric acid were tabulated for 80 kinds of solvent containing oxygen in their structure including ketones, alcohols, ethers, and esters. The measurements were carried out with the aid of radioactive tracers, and the relation between the chemical structure of solvent molecule and the distribution ratio, as well as the separation factor, was extensively surveyed. Among the solvents with similar structures, the distribution ratio was lowered with an increase in the number of carbon atoms, in the branching of the side chain, and in the symmetric molecule structure against the functional groups, although solvents with smaller number of carbons, did not follow the first tendency. Among the solvents with different structures, the distribution ratio was lowered in the order as alicyclic ketones) aliphatic ketones > esters > alcohols > ethers. The separation factor became greater with an increase of distribution ratio for hafnium. (auth)
