The objective of the Abandoned Well closure interim response action is to locate, examine, and properly close wells that may be allowing, or could potentially allow, migration of contamination from upper aquifers to deeper aquifers. This final decision document provides summaries of: (1) alternatives considered; (2) significant events leading to the award of the IRA contract; (3) the IRA project; and (4) the applicable or relevant and appropriate requirements, standards, criteria, or limitations (ARAR`S) associated with the program. Comments and responses are found in the appendix.
