Experimental investigations on rabbits conducted for the purpose of elucidating the effect of live vaccines on the organism of the irradiated animal established that the number of animais perishing during sublethal x irradiation decreases if a live vaccine is introduced subcutaneously. The number of perished animals augmented if they were immunized with the live vaccine during or after irradiation. It was concluded that it is possible to use the live vaccine for the prevention of radiation sickness in patients subjected to x irradiation for therapeutic purposes. (P.C.H.)
