SURVEY OF IODINE-129 CONCENTRATIONS IN THYROID TISSUES (Progress Report, March 4, 1963)
Progress is reported in a survey of I/sup 129/ concentrations in human and other mammalian thyroid tissues collected at times varying from 1930 to 1963. Neutron activation snalysis, leading to the formation of I/sup 130/, was used to determine I/sup 129/ concentrations. The experimental procedure is described in detail. Results are reported for 9 whole human thyroid glands and 4 samples of desiccated hog thyroid. Results indicate geographical variations and a biospheric increase in I/sup 129/ content from 1957 to 1962. (C.H.)
