INFRARED AND RAMAN SPECTRA OF TITANIUM TETRABROMIDE

Infrared and Raman spectra were obtained for TiBr/sub 4/. The infrared spectrum, which was not reported previously, was measured from 185 to 3000 cm/sup -1/. The Raman spectrum agrees well with that given earlier by Delwaulle and Francois. The vibrational fundamentals for T/sub d/ symmetry are /sup a/1 229.5, e = 74.0, f/sub 2/ = 90.5, and 383 cm/sup -1/. These agree with Delwaulle and Francois earlier assignments. Calculated thermodynamic properties and force constants are included. (auth)
