INFRARED AND RAMAN SPECTRA OF CHROMYL CHLORIDE

The infrared spectrum of CrO/sub 2/Cl/sub 2/, a deep red liquid, was measured from 120 to 3000 cm/sup -1/. Six Raman lines were obtained by excitation with the D-lines of potassium. The fundamental frequencies for C/sub 2v/ symmetry are a/sub 1/ = 981, results agree well with the work on the Raman spectrum by stammreich et al. Thermodynamic properties were calculated at four temperatures. (auth)
