The infrared spectrum of liquid ruthenium tetroxide was determined over the range 300 to 5000 cm/sup -1/. Fundamental bands were observed at 330 and 913 cm/sup -1/, and were assigned to the infrared active /sub 3/(F/sub 2/) and /sub 4/(F/sub 2/) vibrations. A combination band STA /sub 3/ + /sub 1/ !(F/sub 2/) at 1792 cm/sup -1/ permitted an assignment of the Raman-active / sub 1/(A/sub 1/) frequency in agreement with earlier work. The final /sub 2/ (E) Raman-active fundamental was calculated by the 0VFF method, and the set of observed and calculated frequencies was utilized to calculate thermodynamic functions for the ideal gas from 298.16 to 1000 ts K.
