ACTIVATION ENERGY IN NIOBIUM DIFFUSION IN ITS OXIDES (in Russian)

Self-diffusion of niobium cations in Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5/, NbO/saub 2/, and NbO at 900 to 1100 deg C was studied using radioactive tracers. It was shown that the activation energies of cation migration processes in Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5/ and NbO/sub 2/ are close to each other (E == 52 to 53 kcal) and almost twice that of NbO (E = 29.6 kcal). Small admixtures of TiO/sub 2/ and Na/sub 2/O do not influence the mobility of Nb/sup 5+/ in Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5/. (R.V.J.)
