>X-ray analysis of solubility maxima for Ni/sub 3/Nb and Ni/sub 3/Al indicated 43 wt % for Ni/sub 3/Nb at 1280 deg C and 46 wt % Ni/sub 3/Nb at 1300 deg C. The melting points of the alloys were found between 1305 and 1300 deg C with eutectic points between 1300 and 1295 deg C. Electric resistance of the specimens was 440 x 10/sup -5/ ohm, following annealing at 1295 deg C the resistance increased to 457 x 10/sup -5/ ohm. Further heating to 750 deg C reduces the resistance. The hardness of 35 wt % Ni/sub 3/Nb was 450 Vickers units, and following annealing at 1295 deg C, 385. 500 units. (R.V.J.)
