DETERMINATION OF LOW-LEVEL RADIOACTIVITY IN WATER. PART 4

Journal Article · · Water and Sewage Works (U.S.) Merged with Water Wastes Eng. to form Water Eng. Manage.

The reproducibility of sample preparation and accuracy of counting was examined by a statistical evaluation of gross alpha and beta radioactivity counting results. Results are presented for the deposition of mixed fission products and uranyl acetate solutions on 2-inch diameter stainless steel planchets. Filtration of water samples through millipore membrane filters, wet and dry ashing of polystyrene based ion exchange resins, and elution as a rapid radioassay method are briefly discussed.
