ENVIRONMENTAL RADIONUCLIDES IN A WATER SUPPLY

Journal Article · · Water and Sewage Works (U.S.) Merged with Water Wastes Eng. to form Water Eng. Manage.
OSTI ID:4070746
The levels of radium-226, strontium-90, and gross beta activity in a municipal water supply and their removal by the use of ferrous sulfate-excess lime coagulation were investigated at the Filtration Plant in Austin, Texas. Radiochemical analyses of untreated, settled, and filtered water samples were performed. Limited samples of sludge from the water treatment plant and scale deposits from the water distribution system were investigated for the activity of radium-226 and strontium-90. (Public Health Eng.
