DETERMINATION OF LOW-LEVEL RADIOACTIVITY IN WATER. PART 3

Journal Article · · Water and Sewage Works (U.S.) Merged with Water Wastes Eng. to form Water Eng. Manage.
OSTI ID:4631048
A method of wet ashing ion-exchange resins by the use of concentrated perchloric, nitric, and sulfuric acids, followed by measurement of activity of the ashed resins is described. A dry ashing procedure with magnesium nitrate, ammonium nitrate, and hydrogen peroxide was investigated and found to be less practical than direct dry ashing in a muffle furnace; the latter procedure is described. Elution was considered impractical as a rapid radio-assay technique. (TCO)
