INELASTIC AND ELASTIC SCATTERING OF PROTONS BY COMPLEX NUCLEI FOR AN ENERGY OF 27 BEV (in German)

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:4073530

Two stacks of nuclear emulsions were exposed to a 27Bev proton beam of the CERN proton synchrotron. It is shown that no cascade processes in nuclei are involved in meson production. The influence of the primary nucleons on the angular distribution of secondary particles was studied. Differential angular distributions of pi mesons are given. In the center-of-gravity system no anisotropy was observed. The transversal momentum of the nucleons was 1.2 Bev/c. The average energy of secondary pi mesons was 2.18 m/sub 0/c/sup 2/. A new method for the measurement of total and differential cross sections of emulsion nuclei to high energy protons is described. (Gmelin Inst.)
