A scintillation BETA -spectrometer with a double CsI(Tl) crystal is described. The apparatus consists of a crystal, photomultiplier, linear amplifier, single channel analyzer or multiple analyzer, conversion installation, and a mechanical integrator (counter). The crystal has the form of a plate of 19 x 9 x 2 mm. Graduation of the spectrometer is carried out with the isotopes Co/ sup 60/, Cs/sup 137/ and Hg/sup 203/ A method of subtracting the background from the gamma rays is described. Modifications of the single channel analyzer used with higher resolution are also described. The problem of the influence of random summation of pulses in BETA spectra is discussed.
