Electric arc melting of Nb--W--Zr and Nb--Mo-Zr alloys with various constituent concentrations in a helium medium, annealing the ingots at 1900 to 1800 deg C, reduction 50% by forging, and water quenching at 1100 to 2100 deg C are described. Determinations were made of the phase composition, component solubility, melting points, microstructure, and microhardness as a function of chemical composition and melting temperature. Constitutional diagrams and lattice structure of the solid solutions are given. 18 references. (Rev. Metal Lit., 21: No. 3, March 1964)
