The dye bath method was used for the study of the binding of Sr/sup 8// sup 9/ with guinea-pig bone slices in vitro, the mechanism of Sr/sup 8//sup 9/ deposition in the skeleton, and the mechanism of action of various chemical agents, such as EDTA /sub 4/Na, EDTA Ca, sodium citrate, zirconium citrate, calcium chloride, BAL, and parathyroid hormone, as accelerators of Sr/sup 8//sup 9/ excretion. When the bone slices were incubated at 37.0 deg C in physiological saline solution or 1/5 M tris buffer solution (pH 7.24) containing Sr/sup 8//sup 9/Cl/sub 2/, the binding rate of Sr/sup 8/>s 9
