NUCLEAR REACTOR INSTALLATION

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4028307
In order to increase the thermal efficiency of a nuclear reactor installation, the reactor cooling channels having about the same heat development rate are grouped together, so that the entrance and exit headers of the different groups supply and remove the coolant at temperatures differing from one group to another. These group-headers communicate with different places of the heat exchanger casing while the heat exchanger casing comprises boiler tubes arranged in two cycles with different pressures. The heat exchanger casing is divided irto two sections through which the reactor coolant successively passes, so that the group-exit headers communicate with one of the sections and the entrance headers with the other one, while a circulation pump for the coolant is interconnected between these sections. The working medium within the boilder tubes flows in countercurrent to the reactor coolant circulation within the heat exchanger sections. (IIB)
