IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO STEAM GENERATORS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4032960
Steam or vapor generators, especially for nuclear power plants, have a vertical cylindrical casing in which a bundle of U-shaped tubes is disposed, so that the two vertical branches of each tube communicate respectively with an entrance and an exit header disposed inside the casing. These tubes are used for the circulation of the heating fluid, while the interspace between tubes and casing is occupied by the boiling liquid. A method was developed so that the bundle could serve for both the development of steam and its superheating. For this purpose the cylindrical casing subdivided into three sections, the outer ones for the steam production and the center section for the superheating of steam formed in the two outer sections. This center section is separated from the other sections by an inner casing forming a passage for the steam to be superheated so that no superheated steam comes in contact with the outer casing.
