Some dynamic characteristics of proteolytic process changes in the spleen of white rats were studied. The experiments were conducted on the animals irradiated with x ray doses of 600 and 800 r. Proteolysis was indicated by the change in the amino nitrogen content in the spleen homogenates incubated at 37 deg C during 6 hr. In the spleen of the intact animals the processes of proteolysis develop continuously. In the course of the reaction after the third hour of incubation a plateau of about 2-hr duration is recorded, after which period the reaction is intensified again. The presence of the plateau in the course of the proteolytic reactions in the spleen of the irradiated animals seems to be due to unequal radiosensitivity of the spleen cells. A direct relation between the irradiation dose and the intensity of proteolytic processes in the spleen is disclosed. (auth)
