EFFECT OF X-IRRADIATION ON ZINC-65 METABOLISM IN THE LIVER OF MICE
Normal, x-irradiated, and diet control groups of mice were used to show that the characteristic change of /sup 65/Zn metabolism occurs mainly in the soluble fraction of liver homogenate. The animals were given 0.3 mu C of /sup 65/Zn/g body-weight six days prior to sacrifice and subsequent to preparation of liver homogenates. It was found that, as compared wtth the normal group, the liver weights of the irradiated and diet control groups decreased without change in the proportion of soluble and particle fractions; the specific total contents of /sup 65/Zn of both fractions of the irradiated group increased; limitation of food caused a propontional decrease in the /sup 65/Zn content of both fractions; and /sup 65/Zn concentrations of the livers were higher in the irradiated group.
