PHAGOCYTIC ACTIVITY OF THE LEUKOCYTES OF IMMUNIZED RABBITS DUE TO IONIZING RADIATION EFFECT (in Russian)

It was shown that intravenous immunization of rabbits with killed bacteria or sheep erythrocytes stimulates phagocytosis. X irradiation (300 r) of the animals changes phagocytosis undulantly, as does its administration before and after immunization. A twofold vaccination of the rabbits with homogenous antigen (bacteria or erythrocytes) renders phagocytosis more active. Irradiation between such vaccinations suppresses or normalizes phagocytosis. Immunization of the rabbits with heterogenic antigens increases phagocytosis, while irradiation between immunizations in a combination of bacteria + irradiation + erythrocytes suppresses or stimulates it, and suppresses or normalizes it in a combination of erythrocytes + irradiation + bacteria. Phagocytosis and the formation of antibodies in immunized and irradiated-immunized animals more often takes place in parallel. (auth)
