A pressure tube assembly for reactors with a liquid moderator and a gaseous coolant is designed with a device which produces a small head loss in normal operation but which, in case of rupture of the pressure tube, limits the flow rate until the tube can be closed off with a conventional closure means. The device comprises a restrictor nozzle located at both the inlet and outlet of the tube and having a minimum cross section at the thront portion which is dimensioned so that the normally subsonic flow becomes sonic when the flow rate exceeds a predetermined value. Several embodiments of the device are described. (D.L.C.)
