World uranium production in 1987

World uranium production, excluding communist countries (for which little reliable information is available), totaled approximately 94.9 million pounds U{sub 3}O{sub 8} (about 43,000 metric tonnes U{sub 3}O{sub 8}) in 1987, a 2.5 percent drop from the 1986 figure of 97.3 million pounds. Of the top four producing countries, Australia, South Africa and the USA registered decreases, while Canada, the foremost producer, increased output in 1987.
