Phase diagram and neutron spin resonance of superconducting ${NaFe}_{1 - x} {Cu}_{x} As$

In this paper, we use transport and neutron scattering to study the electronic phase diagram and spin excitations of NaFe_1-xCu_xAs single crystals. Similar to Co- and Ni-doped NaFeAs, a bulk superconducting phase appears near x≈2% with the suppression of stripe-type magnetic order in NaFeAs. Upon further increasing Cu concentration the system becomes insulating, culminating in an antiferromagnetically ordered insulating phase near x≈50%. Using transport measurements, we demonstrate that the resistivity in NaFe_1-xCu_xAs exhibits non-Fermi-liquid behavior near x≈1.8%. Our inelastic neutron scattering experiments reveal a single neutron spin resonance mode exhibiting weak dispersion along c axis in NaFe_0.98Cu_0.02As. The resonance ismore »« less

Noncollinear spin structure in $F e_{3 + x} C o_{3 - x} T i_{2}$ ( $x = 0, 2, 3$ ) from neutron diffraction

Neutron powder diffraction has been used to investigate the spin structure of the hard-magnetic alloy Fe_3+xCo_3–xTi₂ (x = 0,2,3). The materials are produced by rapid quenching from the melt, they possess a hexagonal crystal structure, and they are nanocrystalline with crystallite sizes D of the order of 40 nm. Projections of the magnetic moment onto both the crystalline c axis and the basal plane were observed. The corresponding misalignment angle exhibits a nonlinear decrease with x, which we explain as a micromagnetic effect caused by Fe-Co site disorder. Massive Suppression of Proximity Pairing in Topological ${({Bi}_{1 - x} {Sb}_{x})}_{2} {Te}_{3}$ Films on Niobium

Interfacing bulk conducting topological Bi₂Se₃ films with s-wave superconductors initiates strong superconducting order in the nontrivial surface states. Yet, bulk insulating topological (Bi_1-xSb_x)₂Te₃ films on bulk Nb instead exhibit a giant attenuation of surface superconductivity, even for films only two-layers thick. This massive suppression of proximity pairing is shown by ultrahigh-resolution band mappings and by contrasting quantified superconducting gaps with those of heavily n-doped topological Bi₂Se₃/Nb. The results underscore the limitations of using superconducting proximity effects to realize topological superconductivity in nearly intrinsic systems.
