Products of the. gamma. radiolysis of aqueous solutions of o-iodohippuric acid

In order to study the products of the radiolysis of sodium o-iodohippurate resulting from detachment of the iodine atom, 0.01 M aqueous solutions of this substance, labeled with carbon-14 in the carboxyl and methylene groups, were used. The products included hippuric and o-hydroxyhippuric acids, glycine, and the methylamide of o-iodobenzoic acid. The product yields and dose dependence were measured and possible product formation reactions discussed.
