The components of the El Cajon, California, demonstration waste processing plant, designed on the Occidental flash pyrolysis process with recovery of ferrous materials, aluminum, and glass and production of a fuel oil, are briefly described. These include feed preparation, glass recovery, and pyrolysis subsystem. The fuel oil synthesized is compared with No. 6 fuel oil. The environmental aspects of the installation are discussed, with water contaminated with hydrocarbons the only potential pollution problem seen at present. (JSR)
