From garbage: oil. [Properties of pyrolytic oil from Occidental Flash Pyrolysis process]

The Occidental Flash Pyrolysis process pyrolyzes a diversity of organic feedstocks to produce as its primary product a fuel oil similar to No. 6 fuel oil. The char and pyrolysis gas produced as by-products are burned on-site for process heat. Combustion tests on pyrolytic oil has shown its suitability for blending with No. 6 fuel oil. The blends have the advantage of greatly reduced corrosive effect compared to pyrolytic oil alone and the pyrolytic oil reduces the sulfur content of the flue gas. The physical and chemical properties are discussed and tables are provided showing its chemical composition. (JSR)
