The patent describes an enhanced circulation drill bit adapted to be mounted at the end of a drill string for enhancing the removal of drill bit cuttings from the bottom of the borehole being drilled, comprising: a drill body having an upper body section adapted to be attached to a drill string and lower body section having mounted therewith a plurality of cone-type cutters; the upper body section having a bore therein adapted to be in fluid communication with the bore of the drill string to receive drill fluid drilling fluid flowing downwardly through the drill string: the lower body section having three passageways therethrough, each of the passageways having a first and a second end opening. The passageways are in fluid communication with the bore of the upper body section at the first end opening and the passageways extending through the lower body section to a second end opening; and flow response means mounted in the upper body section bore for intermittently opening and closing the passageways in response to the flow of fluid entering the upper body section bore.
